The word 'like' has been deprecated due to overuse, and should be
avoided if possible.

"thing" is also a banned word where teenagers are concerned, they are
advised to use the correct noun for the item they are referring to.
Oh and "fair" is considered to be a four-letter word beginning with
"f" and therefore it's use is also banned.

Likewise, all persons not entirely certain of the distinction between

A common mistake which I try to avoid where possible, however I could
always get the YoungLady[1][2] to start posting and then you'll have
plenty of grammatical & spelling errors to point out (won't make a
blind bit of difference of course).
Mark
[1] Following MEGs naming convention for the younger
[2] "lady" is of course only a descriptive label and should not held
to be binding or accurate.

Are they allowed to use the "neither" and "nor"? IS banning them from using
"either" a purely punitive measure, or do you think it'll help them learn
the difference between its/it's? I think if it's a punishment, we should
make them stop using a more common word.

The Young Lady spent much of today winding up the representatives of HM Armed
Forces and the Royal Navy - it were Careers Day at school... and "Mufti Day"
for her year, which meant she was dressed (and I use the term loosely) in
skin-tight knee-length denim pedal-pushers and a strappy top.
She's lucky I didn't see her before she left for school today - and even luckier
that the Hamster didn't. I just hope she scares her father as much as she scares
Hamster *evil-grin*
